On September 16th, students from the Riverview Learning Center’s CLIP (Contracted Learning Individual Pacing) program set off on an exciting journey at the Tolt Commons in Carnation, of growth and connection, hosted by the dynamic Jerry Blackburn and Empower Youth Network (EYN). This collaboration between CLIP staff and EYN is all about creating unforgettable experiential learning opportunities that empower students as they plan for their futures.
The day was filled with activities designed to foster a strong sense of community and safety. Students dove into a series of engaging games focused on trust-building, communication, and teamwork. The adventure began with fun icebreakers that gradually increased in complexity, helping students to truly connect with their classmates.
Blackburn’s thoughtful approach encouraged students to tackle increasingly challenging tasks, culminating in the creation of a social contract that promoted collaboration and mutual respect. This wasn’t just a day of fun—it was a powerful lesson in the strength of teamwork.
By the end of the event, students and staff alike had forged stronger bonds, realizing that together, they could achieve so much more than they ever could alone. This successful team-building experience not only enriched their individual journeys but also laid the groundwork for a positive and inclusive learning community. Here’s to many more adventures ahead!
